christmas
It was a frenzy of a week, wrapping up work, fitting in not-so-quick trips to Toys 'R Us and Target and Macy's, trying to make all of the magic of Christmas in between so much other stuff. And then, as there always is even though I am sure there will not be each and every year, a deep breath washed over me.
Christmas Eve is my favorite day of the year. I heard myself say that out loud to a friend and it was a reminder that I didn't want to spend it worried or overbooked or overwhelmed.
I had the day off. Lil E was with his dad. My to-do list seemed manageable. And what didn't, I crossed off. Christmas came and somehow, I was ready. Not because everything was perfect or accomplished or tidy, but because I decided I was.
There were plenty of presents under the tree. There was much hype and anticipation about Santa and if Frosty really did come to life and about knowing every single word to "Rudolph" this year.
