Home home home

We had an amazing dinner last night, as relaxed as we could be, crowded around a table in mismatched chairs gathered from the dining room, computer room and patio.
While the men grilled the ribs, Lil E's grandpa snuck him little pieces of delectably barbequed meat to sample. We pulled Lil E in close, handed him one last piece and told him it was time to go in to have ribs for dinner. He shivered and squealed, "I'm so happy!" So cute.
Over a delicious dinner of ribs and garlic bread, broccoli and sweet potatoes, we laughed a lot and told stories, then laughed more while watching the kids play together on the floor. Sometimes it takes a good meal around a table that's just a little too small to bring everyone in close together.
It was a sweet moment, and with that, we will get one more round of putt-putt on the hotel practice green for Lil E and pack up our suitcases. We'll be going back to Chicago on a nice note, a happy note with plans for Christmas gatherings underway. With that, it feels good to be heading home.
