Is this smart or is this too much?

See for yourself. Planesheet

Then let me know if you think this is the key to fighting the seemingly inevitable post-flight sniffles or if this is preying on mama germ paranoia.

This paranoia troubles me. On the one hand, I want to avoid those sleepless nights with a sicky kid just like every other parent. I also detest this consumerism-driven standard that we must be completely and properly sanitized before we ever even think of holding a baby.

I hate that Purell has invaded how much some mamas trust themselves to create a safe place - lap or living room - for our children. I've been balked at more than once for committing a cootie faux pas and yet, I admit to be hesitant about airplane seat head rests.

No matter where I land on these washable airline seat covers, it comes down to this for me: With a carseat, toys, books, snacks, sippy cups, change of clothes for an urpy boy and and myself and possibly any other passengers in the vicinity, and a magazine that keeps the "sure, he'll nap on the plane" hope alive, there is no way I will add one more thing to my over-stuffed carry-on bag.

And you? Go on, get up on that (not so sanitized) soapbox.

Okay...these are right in line with the cloth seats that fit into grocery carts and resturant high chairs. I'm sorry a but some germs are good for my child. My friend and I have been known to have playdates EVEN though our kids have the (gasp) sniffles. It is our way of building their immune system. Sorry I'm passing on the plane sheet just like I did on the grocery cover.... Next Item Please!!

What I want is a cover for the baby swings at the park. This week, my baby got Hand, Foot and Mouth AGAIN from a Chicago park. Same park he got it from last time. Gross. And we purelled his hands when he came home. I NEVER worried about these things. Never!

Our grocery store has sanitizing wipes by the carts, so I consider that to be a good precaution. But the park...well, I have to agree with you, Foodmomiac, on that one. It can be very eeeeeuuuuwwww.

Hand Mouth and Foot is SO bad! My boys have each had it twice. Did you try the Malox/Benadryl combo? I only mendion it b/c we suffered through the first round with nothing. The second round our Dr. told us the combo and it helped. I beleive it is 1 teaspoon Malox and 1 teaspon Benadryl. It coats their mouth and helps with the pain.

I think that these are ridiculous. You get sick being on a plane because you share air, not because of germs hiding in your seat cushion/floatation device.

its kind of funny to me all the baby/kid crap that is available these days. While some of these new goodies I admit come in handy, there is plenty out there that is just not necessary. When we were growing up we didn't have all these new gadgets and sanitizers and most of us grew up being strong and healthy children who could handle any illness that came our way.
